The Secrets of Highway Maintenance – Backstage Pass Opportunity

September 14 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Alberta Highway Services
Spruce Meadows Trail & 24th Street SW

As drivers who love to cruise the highways and wander off into new places, have you ever wondered how those roads are maintained?   How potholes are filled, how cracks in the pavement are repaired, how snow is actually removed, or ice melted away?

Join us in a tour of the shop/garage of Alberta Highway Services Ltd who maintain the south-west leg of Stoney Trail, among other provincial roadways.  The tour will be led by their local Supervisor and you will get answers to all your questions, as well as seeing and touching the equipment they use.

Did you know that those snowplough trucks cost over half-a-million dollars each, and are loaded with all sorts of modern computerised technology?  You may have heard the terms “anti-icing” and “de-icing”, and now you can learn first-hand what they mean.

Hard hats and safety vests twill be supplied. Safety footwear is optional but wear solid shoes as minimum. As the shop is an active worksite, all the participants need to do an Online Orientation Module before coming onto the site.

Contact events@bmwcsa.ca to confirm attendance and obtain link for Online Orientation Module

When you have completed the short written test (it’s easy), advise Dwayne Eadie of your result and your vehicle type at events@bmwcas.ca to complete the registration process.
