BMWCSA winter driving school

January 28, 2017

The details for the Winter Driving School have been finalized.  As with the highly enjoyable and educational event last year, the event is for BMWCSA members and their families on SATURDAY January 28th (We will accept new members). Cost is less than previously advertised at $150 for adults and $75 for students and those 65 and older. Lunch (usually pizza) is included. To register, please contact any of the following:

Gary Leadbetter – gleadbetter@shaw.ca
Bruce Borstmayer – borstmayer@bmwcsa.ca
Brian DeBoeck – deboeck@bmwcsa.ca

The School involves one hour of classroom instructions at the Day’s Inn in Cochrane and the rest of the day driving at Ghost Lake just off Hwy 1A. It is an amazing learning experience that will improve your safety on slippery ice surfaces teaching you much about winter driving, different tires, different cars (FWD, AWD, RWD) and even about yourself! A prerequisite is that you must have winter tires with the mountain and snowflake logo (“All season” tires are not winter tires). This is a purely practical requirement: you probably could not even get to the ice without them – buy a set – you will be glad you did!

The School is run by the Southern Alberta Solosport Club with some of the instructors supplied by our Club. Ice thickness is now reported as 14″ to 18″ well over the safety requirement.
